HELLO, AATHER! AATHER, HELLO. Ellie, Sera and I come bearing updates for some character resources that have always been ICly/OOCly publicly available to all, but for whatever reasons have faded from visibility and fallen out of date! GUESS WHAT: they're (mostly) not out of date anymore, and now we are dragging them back out for you to behold in all their glory. It has been a busy week.

☼ First things first, the plot info and artifacts section of the Library Catalogue has been updated! These records are publicly available to all and include very detailed histories of all Aather events to date, references, plot maps and ongoing puzzle bits, and memories/records regained from plot events. Waver has been putting helpful sticky notes and signs on everything ICly because he is a jerk like that! It is all there for newbies and oldbies alike to peruse and work with.

☼ The old IC Persona Compilation List has been brought completely up to date! It includes all Personae that have been seen, what they look like, when they were last around (for ease, there are 'CURRENTLY ACTIVE'/'CURRENTLY INACTIVE' tabs), and all the relevant realm/plot/game info for each Persona you can stand. Non-Personae plot figures like the Darkness, the Chorus, and our new NPC are also on there for ease of reference. NOTE: For the 'Status' column, we went with the most recent post under each Persona's character tag -- if they've actually been active past that point and you just missed tagging posts please note the correction under 'Further Additions'!

☼ They're linked up there in the library catalogue too, but the comprehensive Plot History docs are being brought slowly up to date! ICly, these should be available for all realms; OOCly, Beauty's Forest, Three's Cove, and Wonderland are now as comprehensive and complete as we can make them, and Camelot and the Black Woods are in the rough draft stage but will be available soon if we have anything to say about it.

☼ At least semiregular IC reporting of mysterious happenings and plot bulletins is going to be a thing! Aather always has a full calendar for driving forth plot on plot; Waver is keeping busy by putting up regular reports on interesting encounters on the ICly visible Bulletin Board (this one is the first) and will keep encouraging other characters to do likewise or even just let him know so he can do the writing for them and keep the community broadly updated. For those who can't ICly read, we've also had a device on the board for a while that reads out voice recordings of what's on it.

Lastly, all of these resources are and have always been open for characters to add to at their discretion! Nearly all info and spec on them is IC, and any purely OOC notes are marked as such. We've been working with Aather tags to track down info/happenings/dates for things and have added in all the plot information that's ever been publicly available to our characters as a group -- but there is a 100% probability we will have missed things, or that you've encountered a plot tidbit with your character that ours never did -- or, hell, even just that you've added library books that aren't on the catalogue yet (we didn't touch that part.)

All the linked docs are fully open to edit and add onto! If you want to add some info to any of them and help us bring them even more up to date, all we can say to you is PLEASE, PLEASE DO. ♥

Good afternoon, Aather! If we could please draw your attention to the following houseekeeping it would be greatly appreciated ♥

We've gone through the info pages, docs, navigation, and so on to clean it up as much as possible, but we need your help updating some pages & spreadsheets as well as letting us know where there are errors—missing/outdated information, dead links (since things move around), or something that should exist, but doesn't! If you don't have the time or interest to go through everything, that's totally okay—we appreciate as much help as everybody can offer to make sure that everything is neatly and nicely organized for you.

Please do at least take a look to see that your contact info, etc, is up to date!

Any comments can go in this post but for any future changes, remember that the housekeeping page is always available to you, and will send the mods comment notifications.

Hello Aather! As we get ready to move realms we are looking at doing a reorg of our available info since... as everyone has noticed, Aather has a lot of info spread out across a lot of locations.

As a first step to this, listed below the cut is a user-frequency poll for each of the links on the sidebar. If you have a spare minute, it would be a tremendous help if you could fill it out for us.

Obviously not everything that gets a low score will be removed (I didn't even include the "contact the mods" link as an option; that's going to stay whether or not anybody ever clicks on it just in case) but this will give us a better idea of what people really use and need, and what can maybe be moved to a different location.

I will leave the poll open for a week; if you don't vote in that time it's not the end of the world; again, it would just be of help as we start to reorganize things.

✿ We had this post tonight! As I am writing this, it is still ongoing (thanks to my super lovely army of threadrunners ♥) but if you missed it, that doesn't mean you've missed everything! We will continue tomorrow around 2PST/5EST approximatelyyyy.

✿ As a brief summary (the briefest), Our Heroes have pried open the crack in the cliffs that leads to the mythical Deep (u-using a rib spreader) with Dream's assistance, and are making their way through a monster-infested dungeon (along with some unusual XXXX ??? XOXO from Firebird).

✿ Even if you weren't playing in any of it tonight, I'll make sure to open it up so people can jump in early/avoid monsterfighting, etc, but still get in on things. Seriously I am easy!! Whatever level of involvement you'd like, you can have, just let me know.

HEY GUYS a couple of people have talked about it where I can see them, so I thought it was worth mentioning: you can totally change your network icon if you decide you really hate it. I get the email notifs for aathernet and some of the other network fairies might have the thing pinned anyway, so we will totally get to it. Eventually. When we feel like it.

Just comment here, which is also helpfully linked on the sidebar (getting added to the network sidebar)! If you're just changing pictures you can comment with an icon and your character's name alone. This also counts for people who haven't commented to the post at all yet but who've been in Aather long enough that we've found their tag and username info to update the network with already - I'm looking at you, purple teams. :3c

Anyway it's no trouble so just go ahead and stick it in there at any time if you'd like an update.

✦ There is a brand new map & world info page! Essentially, we are now moving to a new section of Aather, which is basically Three's domain. Please make sure you read this thoroughly, and if you have any questions/want more information, I'm going to make a thread specifically for that in this post. ♥

✦ Inventory! Whatever your characters managed to bring over, you have! You also get some nice new clothes in your new cabins—there should be three sets at the foot of your beds. That link also has revamped information about keys, etc. Honestly, if you don't want to play out carrying everything over, handwaving a little is aces as well. Each team is essentially responsible for keeping track of what odds and ends they've quested for, but if I've missed anything major/specific in that information post about Things Each Team Has, please let me know.

✦ There are also some things that cannot be carried that we still want you to be able to keep! Things you've built or were given (sheds, hot springs, wall art, etc) that are somehow important to you. I'll also make a comment thread for that in this post, so if you have a major thing I should add to the map and/or it should be known that it exists in the new area, please comment.

✦ There is also a new completed registry option where your character may elect to go back and live in the forest. Details can be found on the page itself, and if you have any questions, please just ask AJ or Zazzle.

✦ The lovely AJ put together a plot summary of the past little while! If you have any additional threads to add to that, or any questions, or need to be caught up on anything, you can comment there.

✦ Over the next little while, if you notice any dead/outdated links or references anywhere in our information pages, please please please take note of the page (with a link) and fire it off to the modbox so we can fix/update it. We cross-reference randomly all over the place, so it's difficult to comb through and fix all of the references in one go. We appreciate it! ♥

✦ If anybody wants to backthread exploring the castle in this post, we can totally do that for you if you drop us a line asking for that! We may need to put it off a bit until we get things straightened out for everyone, but we'd like to be able to offer that option if anybody wants it.

Extra announcements and housekeeping! There will be another post sometime this week re: applications and placements. I assure you that I am doing more writing here than I am doing for my degree . . .

✿ Gokudera is now an op in the #aather IRC chan, due to the fact that AJ and I both have work and school that prevents us from being on IRC as much as we were in the summer. This is basically so that if there are any problems with spammers or . . . I don't know, sudden topic-ing needs, there is a greater chance of someone being around to deal with it. ♥

✿ We are working on trying to streamline the network sidebar and general navigation of Aather since more and more information is accumulating. If you have particular trouble finding some sort of information you're looking for, please let one of us know so that we can try to arrange it more intuitively. This is sort of a constant work in progress.

✿ There is an activity check FAQ here! If you have any questions or concerns that are not addressed there, please email us, but hopefully this will clarify some vagueness or uncertainty that anybody had re: activity check!

✿ AJ & Zazzle's schedules are now becoming super tight with work and school! We still do want people to contact us with whatever concerns you have and not worry about bothering us! But please try to direct them mainly to the mod email for the time being as opposed to IRC/gchat. There may also be slight delays in responses since our schedules are not exactly compatible with each other, and we typically prefer to talk over everything before either of us replies. Just as a heads up!

Good Ends:

✿ The completed registry/good ends policy has been revised! Please take a look here. Notably, a section about good ending with an incomplete registry has been added. We are still in discussion, as always, about the different options available for good ends, so if you have a particular opinion or suggestion or concern, or if there are queries about the current options, please hit up AJ.

✿ The "Aather is now your home" option that is currently locked should be open by early November at the latest. If you are waiting for this option but are ready to good end now, you can take the option that "your character has technically "left play" but remains in Aather" that is currently available and transfer to the new option when it is available!

✿ With either of these options, characters will be removed from playing in

aather. This is largely to keep the day-to-day interactions between characters, fallouts from games, plot and expansion, etc, to a manageable size and pace. While we have considered the possibility of creating an "extra team" to hang around without participating in games/taking up team slots, it does still contribute to the overall number of people in the world and may be too claustrophobic. Instead:

✿ The community

lifeafterfred has been made! It is not currently functional, but we will be working on building it over the next month. This community is where people who have "good ended" or whatever can do day-in-the-life stuff while living elsewhere in Aather as long and as much as they want. People playing here may be drawn into

aather for special events: we are looking into doing these as often as once an OOC month (which is a little over the average IC week). These will be "IC canon" for Aather, but essentially temporary visiting hours. Of course, you can backdate extensively, so there will be some degree of flexibility here.

✿ There will be more about alumni events, good ends, etc later, as we are really just building this up based on player input. Nothing is essentially set in stone, and if you want to make a decision now and change it later based on new options being available, we will totally work with that. That said, if you do have an idea or something you would like to see, please email us with your suggestions!

. . . or, not even FAQ, but questions you might have that I am trying to pre-emptively answer!

So, there has been some confusion expressed recently with how activity checks work and the finer points thereof! We'd like to clarify that a little bit so that everyone is absolutely on the same page, and so there are no surprises if you get an activity check email, both for the peace of mind of all the players and for the mods as well.

IN GENERAL, if you're playing regularly, it's unlikely problems will occur! Similarly, if you're having a period of low activity or drive but are regularly talking to your team and your mods about how often and when you are going to be available to play, there is equally no reason for there to be a real unmanageable issue.

Playing should be a stress-free thing, and we hope that the activity/hiatus policies are set up in such a way that the majority of you can basically ignore their existence entirely. The activity check is really our way of keeping in contact with players about the consistency of their play, not an actual penalty: it only becomes a problem if there is no consistency for multiple weeks in a row/in a two month period. So, it really is just a check, and only enters into danger zone if it happens frequently or consistently.

Hopefully this helps and clarifies any questions or concerns people may have had (and does not actively bring up new ones). And of course, if there are lingering questions, please email us (aather.mods@gmail!)

✿ The activity policy is now in the network sidebar, since we've had a few instances of confusion with some of our policies lately! Nothing has changed, but we've edited it slightly to hopefully make it a little more clear and comprehensive. We have basically been activity checking the exact same way since April, so if you haven't had any issues so far, it's really unlikely that you're going to in the future—but please familiarize yourself with the basics if you haven't already!

✿ As always, check out our placement SURVIVAL STRATEGYyyyy if you have any questions about how we process applications, and feel free to email us at any time with questions, or if you'd like to make a team placement request.

✿ We have made some clarifications and changes regarding loser games due to the sort of vague nature that was previously causing some confusion. The most important thing to note would be that all loser teams that participate are to be awarded memories—this is to avoid the potential problem of . . . well, losing at loser games, which defeats the purpose of ensuring every team a minimum of one memory every several weeks.

Because we would also like loser games to act as a safety net for knights that are struggling with memories, all knights that show up should also be awarded memories. However, (and this goes for regular games too, not just loser games!) we do expect that people who show up for games are able to play in them! We will handwave the issue once or twice, especially if a sudden absence from a game is unexpected (you fell asleep, weren't feeling well, etc), but if this becomes a repeated issue, the mods will speak with the player in question.

Games are meant to facilitate CR and act as the memory reclaiming device, etc. They are also meant to be fun and entertaining! Remember, games work best when people play them, but also remember that they are a game inside of another game (INSIDE OF ANOTHER GAME INSIDE OF THE GAME OF LIFE?!?!) and we are looking to balance fairness and fun for all with logistics and purpose.

Please let us know if there is anything else regarding loser games or the team rankings that needs to be clarified!

Caves have been added to the locations part of the world info! Oooohh, Aaahhh. For clarifications and questions bother AJ. In general it is probably still advised that you don't venture into the caves right now as they are super turny and dark and hard to navigate and so forth and so on. But I know you Aatherites have this thing about proactiveness and exploring and shit. Gosh!1

I was curious about which characters had been on which teams, when, so I went through the team placement posts made an Aather Turnover Spreadsheet.

Key
Red = disappeared, by whatever method
Green = Switched to Onyx (cause Maleficent is all about green, growing things, and not because she's kind of green in the Disney film)
Lilac = character dropped and reapped by someone else
If/when someone picks up a character they dropped, it'll be in blue.
* = First person Booked
# = First person Forested

Looking at this now, I'm kind of wondering why there aren't more IC rumors about Sapphire or, especially, Turquoise being cursed floating around. Alternately, way to go, Carnelian! Not one loss for you, so far!

Note that the spreadsheet does not reflect when knights came in at all accurately. With a few exceptions, I just went by when I first saw their name mentioned in OOC - sometimes, that was when they got Booked.
