Giant Beanstalk To The Sky Post:

Self-explanatory Giant Beanstalk To The Sky Post is self-explanatory. Mal channeled the power the heroes freed from the story into a vine to the sky! Here you can find: the option to thread out or handwave knowing all this information, status effects, talking to Happy Ended characters, and cute plant stuff that your character can create at will if they just focus through their keys. . . CATCH UP AND PLAY IN THAT TILL TOMORROW FOLKS.

This post can be used as the master summary post for the larger plot that's been running in Aather between late October-November and mid-January! It includes the events of this last weekend in consumable form for those who did not need all details to participate but would like to catch up. ♥

Reading the following comments alone — or even the top portion of the comments that get a little bit lengthy — should suffice for a broad understanding to enable you to play your character being aware without being involved, though there are a lot of links throughout for reference if you want to go back in and double check details. We do encourage that if you want to do it, especially if you want to dig for extra facets to play with later when handwaving involvement — some of this stuff has been pretty cool!

ON TO THE SUMMARIES:

Foreshadowing: Day 403 (end of October)

The Start: Day 407 (Mid-Nov) through Day 413 (Dec 1)
The Prince's Struggle & Heroes' Plans: Day 415 (early Dec) to Day 420 (end of Dec)
Hope, Beauty's Return, & Preparation: Day 423 & Day 424 (early Jan)

Down the Trails: Dawn, Day 426 (Thursday Jan 15-Saturday Jan 17)
Dreaming With The Dragon: Morning, Day 426 (Saturday, Jan 17 finale)
The Dragon Who Must Be Defeated To Claim Victory: Late Morning, Day 426 (Sunday, Jan 18 finale)

Hi gang, as of now we've finished with our wrapup of this week's plot event! Everyone should have their conclusion, handwaved or otherwise. Feel free to play out fallout in the threads if you like, just don't start new ones ♥

Between the many battles fought and the games played, the tiny patches of petrified ground from the door event and the larger splashes of shadow-splashed ground from this latest plot post will all be gone from Aather by the end of Goldie's game! However, the large petrified patch in the woods is still present. This will be noted in the unlock for your characters to fully notice and react to (please ping Ellie if your characters decide to do something about it!)

The next plot-related post will go up on December 23 sometime in the morning, so we'd appreciate if no one could move time past night 418 till then. It won't be an event requiring runners, so it'll be 100% available for you to play in at your leisure. Thanks for sticking with us thus far!

❄ The summary of the plot kickoff/tunnel to the Icefields exploration (explore # 1) is here!
❄ The summaries of Gerdaquest sessions # 1 (Kai and Gerda’s houses) and # 2 (the river) are here!
❄ The summaries of Gerdaquest session # 3 (the flower field) and the robbers’ castle (explore # 2) are here!
❄ The summaries of Kvitoya (explore #3), Nimue's call to help her lake, Gerdaquest #4 (Lapland), and the avalanche in the Icefields and Camelot are here!

This is the final set of summaries! WE'LL TRY TO KEEP IT BRIEF. There are two sides to this last part of the plot, Camelot's side and the Icefields' side! They took place at the same time, so I'll cover them separately and show where they link up.

We'd like to thank you all for your participation and input on this plot, even if it was quite long and situated during a busy time! It went very differently than we expected as a result of your amazing decisions. ♥ This is not the end of Snow Queen and Gerda's story, and we have some stuff in mind to pursue further (such as a DISTINCT LEGACY ROLE in upcoming stuff, STAY TUNED!) buuut we're. not going to be running anything else with them for a while. Everyone take a well deserved break from thinking about snow! Spend a whole day marveling that you're not frantically writing flavortext— wait, no, that's us.

(BUT SERIOUSLY WE CAN'T OVERSTATE HOW PLEASED WE ARE WITH EVERYONE AAAA MUCH PLOT VERY RAINBOWS I LOST MY NARRATOR VOICE IN GLEE ONLY CAPSLOCK NOW!)

Stay cool till next time and enjoy your spring, Aather!

❄ In Friday’s exploration, heroes entered the Icefields once more to join Gerda in Kvitoya. Kvitoya was revealed to have once been a town, which the Snow Queen had frozen, preserved, dissected to some extent, and put on eternal display in a museum of ice.

❄ On Sunday, Nimue urged heroes with a call to the Great Hall, asking that they help her free her lake.

❄ Monday’s plot was the final Gerdaquest session!

Thanks to Thorn thawing Bao's heart and returning it to her, she was even able to restore him before she left, and the warmth of their hearts and the lantern to guide their way was enough to melt the snow around them…

...at which point the snow hit the fan.

Avalanche in Icefields | Avalanche in Camelot

Snow Queen finally noticed that the heroes and Gerda were interfering in her realm, and an avalanche that buried the Icefields and Camelot alike was her response. This is a temporary environmental change that will last at least for the next week! It's not going to be easy to melt or shovel the sheer volume of snow that was dumped, and characters may find themselves outright trapped inside, especially at first. Guinevere handed out extra mittens, along with offering some plot tidbits: a) the avalanche left Snow Queen's defenses down and her realm accessible, and b) the Camelot personae are aiming towards some kind of response to the attack, of a form and direction yet to be determined.

Here is the rough schedule of finale stuff, as follows!

* Lancelot will have a post to raise power (fight club! or is that knight club?) running afternoon/evening EST on December 17th!
* Morgan will have a light social post to raise power early evening EST on December 18th!
* Characters will be able to access the Icefields as of later evening EST on December 18th! WARNING: This is a one-way trip! Characters who go for this will be out of normal Aather till Saturday - they'll be running in the Icefields with separate mingle posts and separate living accommodations for an overnight camping trip, basically.
* Guinevere will present options on what to do about the avalanche later evening EST on December 19th!
* ~The things that get decided on~ in the December 19th meeting will take place on December 20th, throughout the day, with events culminating in late evening EST.
* Saturday the 21st is the finale, and will take place early afternoon EST!

Again, thank you to everyone who has been playing and participating, and we hope you’ve been having fun! As always, if you wish to handwave attendance at any of the plotty events thus far, feel free to do so and give as an idea of what your character did so we can use it!

ETA: ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT STUFF THAT HAS HAPPENED/STUFF THAT WILL HAPPEN CAN ALSO GO IN THIS POST whup!

❄ The summary of the plot kickoff/tunnel to the Icefields exploration (explore #1) is here!
❄ The summaries of Gerdaquest sessions # 1 (Kai and Gerda’s houses) and # 2 (the river) are here!

Wednesday’s plot was Gerdaquest session # 3 (the flower field)!

summary )

Saturday’s plot was Icefields exploration # 2 (the robbers’ castle)!

summary )

TL;DR A LOT HAPPENED. If you wish to handwave attendance, try to take a look over things and get a good idea of what you did and saw, just like in the last explore event connected to this plot!

❄ While the Snow Queen doesn’t seem to have twigged on to the realm infiltration happening yet, and is still dumping snow over the populace, all the cumulative activity seems to be having an effect on her . . .

❄ The next session will be on Friday, December 13 at 7pm EST! Similar to yesterday’s run, it will be a trip into the Icefields and a hands-on explore by the heroes. We’re heading towards the finale in the next couple of weeks now (check the calendar for futher dates) -- we hope everyone’s been having fun with this plot so far!

QUICK RUNDOWN OF PLOT SO FAR!

- Here is the first summary, detailing what went down in the trip under Camelot to get Gerda into the icefields, and characters' efforts to get through to the Snow Queen at the same time.

- Gerdaquest session one! Heroes helped Gerda along as she searched her house and Kai's. They got some details of Gerda and Kai's backstory; Kai's personality changing; Kai's grandmother passing away and Kai later going missing; and a passage in a book describing the Snow Queen as a queen bee, with the lesser bees being snowflakes. Gerda took a picture of her loved ones with her, retrieved a pair of good red shoes from a chest in her house, and then left town. Heroes received a rose-marked key from this session.

- Gerdaquest session two! Heroes tuned in to find Gerda thrown off by her arrival at the river; the boat she meant to use was stuck in the ice and the river itself was completely frozen. She was advised to poke around and found several objects (a fishing rod, a crystal star, and broken-off pieces of a sled, among others) in the ice; she was able to loosen some of them with fire provided to her via her connection to Aather.

With a fresh storm building up on the horizon, Gerda freed a live sparrow from inside a frozen bush on the riverbank and inadverdently set the boat on fire at the same time. The sparrow gave her a coat button; she chased it to a signpost indicating two paths -- one sign marked with a feather and the other sign marked with trees. After getting some input and reassurance from the heroes, Gerda started down the tree-marked path -- while behind her, the burning boat seemed to have started the river melting. Heroes received a vial of river water with a boat-marked cork from this session; plot objects are being kept in the library at this time.

- Gerdaquest session three will be tomorrow December 4th -- like the other sessions, it will start at roughly 6 PM PST/9 PM EST, but it's easy to jump in at any point!

The true kickoff of Snow Queen and Gerda's month-long plot happened yesterday night, and we want to thank everyone who participated for making it great! If you couldn't make it, you can definitely handwave participating in either portion (though not both with the same character!) or just jump into one of the other events when you're ready - there'll be things related to this continuing all month, TBA!

In the meantime, a summary of events so far:

let it snow let it snow let it snow )

I THINK THAT IS EVERYTHING. Thank you all again for being a terrific group to run for, and remember that our next installment of this plot is on Sunday, November 24!
