THE FINAL HELPFUL CATBOY POST

❤ First of all, thank you AGAIN to everybody who has put in so much work over the whole weekend! Everything you guys do is wonderful and everyone's energy and input has been amazing ///

❤ FOLLOWING THIS, we are done the bits and pieces for the move! The next 5-6 days are intended as TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND LIE OVER ON YOUR SIDE AND DO NOTHING to hopefully calm down from the high intensity of the last couple of weeks.

NEW PERSONAE that were not intro'd during the move, please feel free to saunter in at any point! If you'd like any specific details about the nature of your arrival, please email the mods at aather.mods[at]gmail. Please also COMMENT HERE to be added to the sidebar and get your tag!

❤ Housekeeping & info docs will be updated over the next 1-2 weeks to accurately reflect the new pages! Please reference THIS POST and THIS POST as well as THIS CURRENT POST for all of your current realm info needs! If there is something you need to know that is NOT in either of these three posts, please comment to let us know so (a) we can answer the question immediately, and (b) it can make it into the docs!

Now, for THIS post:

TEAM CABINS

Outside

❤ The cabins are pretty uniformly cute, peaked buildings (as witnessed in the unlock). It's a minute's walk or so from one to the next, and they go all up the hill. As you approach a team's cabin, the lanterns along the path turn the team's color!

This is the general idea:

(Accessories Trees not included)

❤ It's too cold for gardens right now, but anything else you brought along that needs to be outside is in a snowy patch behind your cabin. Your gardens or animals that can't go out in the cold yet, you'll find shrunken in a miniature snow-globe (minus the snow) in your cabin. You can find some way to return them to normal when it's possible . . .!

Inside

❤ The cabin layout will look approximately like this:

❤ The main room is one big room (two storeys high), with the bathroom and kitchen accessible by doors at the back, and stairways up to the loft and down to the basement. The faint grey there is the second floor! The lightest part is is where the loft juts out over the main room like a balcony. The loft is a pretty basic room with a window on one end, and a peaked roof. Click here for another view!

❤ If you did not customize your floors/walls/ceiling, they will be basic rough wood. There is no lighting unless you provide it. If you did not get a fireplace, your cabin will be quite chilly!

❤ Your basement is NOT the size of the whole cabin: rather, it's the size of the kitchen/bathroom/stairs/etc combined. Basically a reasonably-sized den/living room! The "main room" itself is quite large, given that it's meant to be the living/eating space for seven or more people. Assume that everything that was previously in your basement has APPEARED.

❤ Legacy doors & rooms & everything in them appear as per usual as well.

❤ Based on your house details turned in here, we would also like teams to include a brief (200-500 word) summary of what their house looks like! For example:

Coral is carpeted all in lush, high-quality cream carpet that feels pleasant to walk on and never seems to get dirty. The walls are a dark, dark pink, accented with Coral-pink curtains over the windows, tied with big black bows. There is a fireplace that turns on whenever someone walks into the room, bright enough to light the whole area and keep it comfortably warm. Near the door, and hanging near each stairwell, there is a lantern to take upstairs, downstairs, or outside.

In one corner, there is a very large sewing desk covered with bolts of cloth. In front of the fire, there is a huge sofa shaped like a nest, filled with oversized pillows. There is also a birdcage hanging in another corner. There are some comfortable armchairs and several bookcases half-filled with books that Coral brought up from their basement.

The bathroom has a toilet, a sink that is an aquarium (with one tiny rainbow fish in it), and a super fancy clawfoot bathtub. The kitchen has a lot of counterspace, decently roomy kitchen cabinets, a top-of-the-line stovetop oven, and a small icebox.

Upstairs, the loft's wallpaper and ceiling are literally made to look like the night sky, with real shining stars. There are six beds here, most of them basic (but comfortable), but some of them quirky. Each bed has a giant pillow shaped like an animal: a fox, a mouse, a shark, etc. There is also an epic dresser for Hikaru everyone's clothes.

Coral's basement is, for now, completely empty, since they pulled everything upstairs and intend to renovate :B

(Coral, pardon me if that is not completely accurate~ IT WAS AS OF 4PM WHEN I WROTE IT AS AN EXAMPLE but please feel free to edit accordingly ♥)

❤ You do not need to include every bucket, stripe, and chair! Details & inventory will also be linked as reference. This is your ~look and feel~

IMPORTANT!

Please talk to your team, then make ONE comment here under your team header with:

❤ your 300-500 word cabin summary (including basement)
❤ a link to your turn-in for the game
❤ links to any other inventory/references/etc that you have

Sterling, Onyx & Other Buildings

So, what about Sterling & Onyx and the rest of the stuff, right?

❤ "Fetched" buildings like the greenhouse, forge, etc, have taken their place as buildings throughout the city! Where exactly they are on the map can be established once the housekeeping on gathering them has been complete. Suffice it to say, if you want them, they're there! And if they were not a standalone building before, they have a basic stone structure around them now.

❤ In the Great Hall, to the left of the main fireplace (THE BIG CIRCLE WITH AN X ON THE MAP), there are a set of double doors! Past these doors, there is a hallway heading East. The main fireplace is visible from both sides of this wall! This hallway has three points of interest:

1. A stairwell up to the currently-forbidden WEST WING.
2. A junction to a N-S hallway that heads to STERLING and the GYM.
3. And the end of the E-W hallway leads to the LIBRARY and the CLINIC.

*Note that anything shaded out on the map is currently locked/inaccessible.

If you head through the library, there are two doors: one takes you to the CLINIC (which is the small section behind the thrones) or to ONYX. Both Onyx and the Clinic also have doors that lead directly outside (the clinic is to be added to the map still but PRETEND IT'S THAT GREY AREA behind the thrones, from the top of the thrones up to the library).

The rest of the doors in the castle are currently locked.

The Library

*Artistic rendering only :B

❤ There is a desk near the red front door with a ledger and feathered quill, used for signing out books. On the furthest wall from the door to the castle, there is a black door that leads directly to Onyx.
❤ The look of the library is heavily embroidered seats, arched ceilings, and windows along the north wall letting in light. There is a curved loft balcony to the north, with ledges near all the windows to sit in and read.
❤ There is no fire in the library, but it is always warm.
❤ Details on the library catalogue can be found here.

Sterling
❤ There are a set of double-doors behind the Great Hall fire that lead to a hallway.
❤ There is a SINGLE DOOR here that leads to the gym (which is in the area between the UP stairs and the DOWN stairs on the map); and a set of double-doors that lead to Sterling.
❤ Past the double-doors (which only Sterling & guests can pass), there is a pedestal for the Beauty's Book.
❤ A set of stairs lead down into the basement. The main part of Sterling is a comfortable sitting room! The floors and walls are grey stone, but there are heavy rugs everywhere (in every color). There are several tables (big and small) all made of wood, as well as various embroidered couches and overstuffed chairs.
❤ There are no windows, but there are dozens of lanterns and torches set into the walls, and an enormous roaring fireplace that never goes out.
❤ Beauty's lantern hangs over the fire, and if you need to talk to her, that may be a good place to go.
❤ There is a door made of pearl on one wall, where you can acquire items for quests.
❤ There are two archways, one on either side of the fire. One leads to the kitchen, the other leads to the knights' rooms.
❤ The kitchen has all the basic kitchen requirements (stove, counters, cupboards, utensils, pots and pans, ice box, etc), but no longer provides unlimited magic food. Once a day, the cupboard will provide a knight with one already-prepared food item that they really want! So you can have your Dorito craving taken care of . . .
❤ The hall of rooms is just one . . . very long hall, with wooden doors that lock. Each door has a nameplate with the knight's name on it. The very end of the hall leads to a dead end with a lantern hanging from a hook.
❤ For every 4-6 doors, there is a silver door that leads into a bathroom! Each bathroom has a long sink along one wall, a private shower, a toilet stall, and an enormous tub with about six faucets. Think Harry Potter bathtub.
❤ Each bedroom has a comfortable twin bed, a small wardrobe, a cloth-covered table-stand, a dresser mounted with a mirror, and its own fireplace that always stays lit (unless you don't want it to). *If you asked for a fireplace in Gerda's game, feel free to go back and just pick something else with those points. Knights are of course also free to customize their own rooms by building and doing quests on their own, but this is the basic setup! Previous customizations and anything gained from Gerda's game are automatically applied! You can add your own changes to the doc.

Onyx
❤ Has not majorly changed. The updated doc is here. Note the changes to the food supply! Onyx, feel free to update your own room descriptions with what you received from the game.

Questions! Comments! Requests! Suggestions! . . . and of course your cabin summaries (though there needn't be a rush on these, and you can of course start PLAYING with everything immediately! We would just like to have things neat, tidy, customized, and reference-able for the info pages) within a few days.

Thus concludes your helpful catboy updates, thank you for flying.

Re: TIGER'S EYE

[personal profile] telltaleheart 2013-04-05 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Tiger's Eye's cabin has a certain rustic domestic charm. The floors and walls are mostly bare wood, but the windows are adorned with Tiger's Eye-colored curtains that show enough signs of wear that they've probably been around for a few months at least, and much of the furniture looks the same way.

The main level appears to be the living and dining area, as well as general storage; there's a very large table with twelve chairs where everyone (and guests) can eat together. In addition, there are shelves, a cabinet, a weapon rack and a wine rack, storing all the most important things. The room is also decorated with quite a few flowers, which are warmly lit by the crackling fire from the automatic fireplace.

Upstairs seems to be the bedroom. There are five standard beds, one that looks extra comfy (and also like it's been slept in by a wolf...) and one hammock. A changing screen blocks the loft from view if people are sleeping (or changing).

Downstairs is a comfortable den, with a bookshelf and two large sofas surrounding a coffee table. The couches can seat up to ten comfortably. Despite being underground, the panels of the walls are painted as if they were windows, a single small tree in each. Spaced between them there are currently three doors that lead to the Legacy Heroes' rooms.

The bathroom is well-equipped, with a bath and showerhead that runs as much hot water as you need, as well as a functional toilet, sink and mirror.

But the kitchen is by far the most impressive part of the cabin - there's an industrial-quality range, with eight burners and two stoves, a sturdy and well-polished countertop that appears to be made of tiger's eye, a large icebox, a sink, and nearly any cooking implements you could need.
